Join Mandela Washington Fellows and local leaders for weekly roundtable discussions on realities and solutions to global challenges.

Each Expert Exchange will be open to the public and include an audience Q&A. Two roundtables will take place typically on Tuesday mornings, with a break for refreshments and networking between each roundtable.

This week’s topic: Diversity, Inclusion & Vulnerable Populations.

Roundtable 1 (9:00-10:30AM)

Education for All: Engaging Persons with Disabilities and Other Minority Populations

Minority populations have long been marginalized in education systems, to the detriment of both their families and communities.  Participants will discuss best practices for designing educational programming to support minority populations such as persons with disabilities, the homeless, recent immigrants, and individuals impacted by incarceration.

Roundtable 2 (11:00AM-12:30PM)

Youth for Tomorrow: Engaging Young People in Civic Engagement and Workforce Development

How do institutions harness the energy of our youth to create a vibrant and inclusive civic culture and work force?  Participants will discuss their efforts to develop innovative youth programming that engages at-risk populations and breaks the cycle of poverty to unleash the creative potential of youth in local communities.
